My Glorious [a story]

Picture 1

She sat in the blue cushioned chair uncertain why she was there.

Obligated to attend since she got a scholarship for this weekend church event

Nervous anxiety took over her body, worry paralyzed her fragile 15 yr old heart
Questions overwhelmed her heart and mind
Her mind swirled as the voices of her parents news echoed in her mind

"We're moving." repeated in her head over and over
The timing couldn't be any worse
She finally had good friends, good youth group, good life
"Why now God? Why?"

Surrounded my peers dressing up, creating cheers, playing nasty games by day
Followed by intense sermons, worship and small group discussions at night
Her heart wrestled with loneliness and fear
"What could God possibly have for me here, it's pointless now. I'm moving ... I'm moving."

The last night there, students were invited to attend an extended time of worship.
She walked into the candlelit room, acoustic melodies filling the room
Something stirred inside
She knew He was there.

She took her seat, put her face in her hands
"Ok Lord. Let's talk about this."
She poured it all out.
She told Him she was mad.
Scared.
Worried.
Confused.

Tears began to flood her hazel eyes.

The words of the worship songs began to penetrate her hard heart

The world's shaking with the love of God

Great and glorious, let the whole Earth sing

And all you ever do is change the old from new

People we believe that...

"Old from new? Really? I can't even fathom what new means in a new city, new house? I just don't know what to expect! God help me believe."

God is bigger than the air I breathe

The world we'll leave

God will save the day and all will say

My glorious!

Her throat closes up. Chin tightens. She sighs heavily. She whispers,
"You ARE bigger, I know you are."

Clouds are breaking, heaven's come to earth

Hearts awakening let the church bells ring

And all you ever do is change the old from new

People we believe that...

God is bigger than the air I breathe

The world we'll leave

God will save the day and all will say

My glorious! My glorious! My glorious! My glorious! My glorious!

God is bigger than the air I breathe

The world we'll leave

God will save the day and all will say

My glorious!

She stands as the sobs overwhelm her weary heart. She can't hold in the tears.
She can't hold in the intoxicating love she feels.
He is there.
He is holding her.
He is whispering truth
Hope
Comfort.

"Do not be afraid. I am with you. I go before you. I am your rear guard. I promise hope. I have a purpose."

She has never cried this hard.
Her breath is taken away
as she sings these words

God is bigger than the air I breathe

The world we'll leave

God will save the day and all will say

My glorious!

She claims it
She believes it
She surrenders her
anger
fear
anxiety
doubt

All you EVER do is change the OLD TO NEW.

PEOPLE SING THAT GOD IS BIGGER.
