YL handprints

This is a Young Life mug. This mug will be used by a number of different people. It will be sipped in the early morning hours by a high schooler at their first bible study in their Young Life leaders house or apartment. It will be gulped by a Young Life staff member who's been up all night configuring camp numbers and bus details. The warmth of this mug will emanate through the hands of building services supervisor at a Young Life camp. The hot chocolate in this mug will help the service center staff member have enough energy to get through a long day at the headquarters of Young Life.

Young Life. It has many different faces, many different facets.

Two weeks ago there was a YL staff conference in Spain, where 15 different countries were represented. Two weeks ago, service center staff were licking stamps, processing donations and correcting the placement of the ® on the logo. Two weeks ago a high school kid in Colorado called his YL leader to tell him about the physical abuse occurring in his home. Two weeks ago, 4 middle school girls and their YL leader talked about the bleeding women and how they too can approach Jesus with all of their struggles.

These are the faces and facets of Young Life.

All different, all valuable in their own way.

I love the ministry of Young Life. This ministry is the hands and feet of Jesus. The Lord has richly blessed it for more than 60 years. I believe Young Life incarnates Jesus to adolescents in a way few ministries strive to do these days.

I know I am called to this ministry. The hard part now is figuring out my unique role in Young Life. The best place for me to be completely ME, as He intended.

So of the few facets I listed above, where do I belong? In the coffee shop across from a 14yr old talking about her parents divorce? At the camp setting tables and hosting 400 people? In the office answering phone calls and coordinating events?

Give me wisdom Lord.
